TREVOR REID: TRAINER Yvette Bremner saddles four runners in the Computaform Express MR 105 Handicap over 1200m at Fairview on Monday and though stable jockey Karis Teetan is aboard Celtic Fire it is possible that Villandry and Stallone Naidoo could steal it from them.
A line should be drawn through Villandry’s most recent outing as he was found to be striding short. Villandy certainly runs for Naidoo, with the record showing two wins and a good fourth from three partnerships with the apprentice rider. The course and distance suits the gelding and if he is in the mood he could be the right one in a wide-open race.
Trainer Justin Snaith has two very lively runners in Bois De Var and Icemberg. Stable jockey Richard Fourie rides Bois De Var but, after two promising wins over this track and trip, his merit rating has shot up 13 points and that may too steep a penalty to overcome.
Icemberg looked unlucky in his latest when baulked at a crucial stage and only beaten a neck by Apolo Grey. He is another that is well suited to this course and distance.
Celtic Fire was not at his best last time after being slow away. He is never far behind and should be in the shake-up, but he does seem to prefer further.
Stable companions Tic Tak Toe and Bob ’N Weave from the Barry Steenkamp yard filled the exacta over 1400m at Arlington when they last met and, of the two, Bob ’N Weave is more suited to this distance.
Three Captains returns from a short layoff and, if fit and well, also holds a winning chance.
